A 1952 black-and-white film, I admit, although it is not my type in terms of genre, picture, dialogue, and country of production, it does not prevent me from giving it five stars from the bottom of my heart. From three perspectives, the simplest government perspective, the film starts from a group of citizens who come to complain, and the government agencies that do the work push around and shirk their responsibilities, and then build the park. Great irony of the government. After the park was built, the deputy mayor and other section chiefs were greedy for each other's merits. It was not until one of them got drunk and said the truth about Watanabe that everyone started to repent by drinking alcohol, but what's the use of it? , After sobering up, everything went as usual, except for the one who didn't talk big, he kept it, but what's the use, he couldn't offend others.

The second layer is from the perspective of family and affection, his son and daughter-in-law only want to share his father's pension, he doesn't care about him at all, and even thinks that his father will find a young girl.

The third level is that a person realizes that he has been living for the government and his son all his life before he dies, but never for himself. In fact, think about how many things we have been living for ourselves and doing so far. What do we want to do?

He died in the middle of the movie, and reborn in the middle of the movie, happy birthday to you! At the beginning of the movie, he had been dead for thirty years, but at the end of the movie, he got immortal with every swing. The formal structure is classic, the first half is like the meaning of a mummy struggling to live alone, the second half is sublimated and quietly overlooks the life and death (and thus transitions the meaning of life and death from the individual to the whole society), which is like reversing the order of death and life, which is consistent with the theme . With a gentle attitude, he made the sharpest criticism of reality, leaving everyone present speechless. Great movie.

Akira Kurosawa always speaks clearly and deeply about human nature and the social state it consists of. The last 50 minutes were amazing, a great example for group portraits/personal arcs! Unexpectedly, I cried 3 times during this period...Movies are not made like this anymore, but the movies from 70 years ago are still very attractive to me. And the most magical thing is that this is still true in today's society!

  • Sub-Section Chief Ono: Sir, I'm not sure that's possible.

Kanji: It is if you set your mind to it.
