Well "I'm nobody", he is quite a nobody...

It's a relatively ordinary one in Alfred's film list, but it's still a very good story. That mistaken speech was quite a shock, with Hannay delivering a marvelous address. And the man is splendid, and that's why he could perform the tough task.

At least his spirit inspired me, I should say. Never let the thing bother your sleep. Do the busniess but not in it.

The movie is filled with comedy ingredients. Funny in lots of places.

Plus, I love the main actress.

I can only shout again: Director Hitchcock, you are too good at telling stories with movies!

The 39 Steps quotes

  • Crofter's Wife: I'm from Glasgow. Did you ever see it?

    Richard Hannay: No.

Crofter's Wife: Oh, you should see Sauchiohall Street with all its fine shops - and Argyll Street on a Saturday night - with the trams and the lights - and the cinema palaces and their crowds. And it's Saturday night tonight.

  • Richard Hannay: I've never been to Glasgow, but I've been to Edinburgh and Montreal and London. I'll tell you all about London at supper.

Crofter's Wife: John wouldn't approve of that. I doubt.

    Richard Hannay: Why not?

Crofter's Wife: He says it's best not to think of such places and the wickedness that goes on there.
