Written before the inability to enter the aesthetics of the 83 edition

Let me express my emotions first and then compare. The aesthetic style of this version almost made me unable to keep watching, and it was too realistic to make me visually uncomfortable. The two editions of "Narayama Festival Kao" present two very different Japanese aesthetic styles. The 58th edition is more freehand, or similar to traditional Chinese classical aesthetics, while the 83th edition is more realistic and modern. The director used animals in nature as transitions or metaphors many times, but he did not let the classical traditional aesthetics, but too real. Too... I haven't thought of a suitable expression for a while. Aesthetically, I currently prefer the 58 version. Secondly, talk about the narrative focus and the director's ideological intentions. The 58th edition has a strong moral and ethical stance, and has a strong criticism of the custom of sending the elderly up the mountain. At the noon of the old mother's narrative, the main line and contradictions of the narrative are prominent, and the internal and external contradictions of the family always revolve around this position of ethics and morals. The 83 version is centered on human nature and desire, with multiple narrative lines unfolding. Although the old mother is also the protagonist, it has been diluted. There are many details. The director will express more emotional levels and more to say. Many, but it is really difficult for me to enter the director's aesthetics, and I can't go deeper to share with you. Finally, let's talk about the shaping of female characters. I still prefer the 58 version and respect women more. Although the emphasis is on depicting the virtues of traditional women, the implicit and forbidding beauty is very appealing to my stomach. The 83 version pays great attention to the problem of expressing eroticism, but most women appear as objects of desire in it, which is not very comfortable to me.

Regarding the lines, the 83 version is in vernacular, and the 58 version is somewhat classical.
