Very warm Carl's perspective film, I like the slow narrative of the director very much, it is real warm and moving.
Compared with "Mind Station", which also describes a special group, the dwarf and "companions" are released in their hearts, with a relaxed and humorous approach, the story is more (too) idealistic.
In the switchblade, the warmth is hidden behind the turbulent waves. In this small town, justice needs a "mentally retarded" to defend it by killing, which expresses the sadness of people in life. And the person killed did not have needle sticks and resistance before he died, and even ridiculed the protagonist that he could call an ambulance or hearse when the protagonist called the police. This treatment was too shocking. He knew he was a bastard, he knew he deserved to die, even wanted to die, beg to die. The hero kills him, seemingly with a kind of liberation and fulfillment.
Combined with the comprehensive mention of his work and the difficulty of raising a family, he seems not so damnable. It's all the helplessness of life, and it can also be thought that drinking and beating people is also his last resort. In the film, he actually didn't beat anyone, mostly intimidation, with thunder and rain. At this point in the story, it is full and weighty. Regardless of the little boy and his mother, do they know the male protagonist’s mental state and history, but also use words to induce him to kill (in fact, there is.)
This is the complexity of reality. But even if the male protagonist knew their inducement and indulgence, he would still do it. Because this is the beauty he wants to maintain.
Five stars gave this film not only the warm tone, but also the awesome lighting and the poetic soundtrack, which gave me too many surprises.
