"—How many minutes have we been sitting here?
-1 minute?
-2 minutes?
-I love you! "
After the German Film Festival, I was very fortunate to grab a ticket at the Golden Rooster International Film Festival, and I also participated in the first film salon of this film festival!
"German Romance" is the first impression after reading it. Putting aside the cloak of European mythology, when you fall in love, you follow the train timetable across the city to see you; when you separate, you are calm and indifferent and silently complaining. No turbulent passion, no hysterical quarrel, no calculated revenge. Even the murder is peaceful and prosaic. Although there is less explanation of reasons and emotional catharsis, as an audience, I have a little more sympathy for this story. Everything is just right, everything is precise and precise, and the love is meaningful and restrained.
Especially after listening to Mr. Cao's sharing after the screening, I have a better understanding and admiration for "German Romance". The love-hate relationship between men and women in the film is also an insinuation of the interlaced relationship between East and West Germany, villages and towns. It is not only an exploration of the ego, but also a love letter to the city, a deep affection and respect for the past. Sigh! Four and a half stars
