Simple life

Although it's a detective film, it doesn't see suspense, it's more of a boring dialogue. Perhaps it is because the story takes place in the icy Midwest of the United States, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Most of the residents are descendants of Nordic immigrants, retaining the simple folk customs, and even speaking with a German accent. In order to emphasize the commonality of the story and characters, the director specially made the actors speak with an accent. This is the original intention, and it is inevitable that people will feel the blandness of the story.

This was an ordinary kidnapping case, but by accident, many people died. The final result is unpredictable by anyone. The out-of-control situation brought about by a small negligence will actually develop a force that cannot be resisted by human beings. All those who are trapped in it can only get deeper and deeper and commit more and more sins, until they lose their lives.

There's a bit of dark humor, and it seems to be laughing at people's midlife crisis. Murder for a little bit of trouble is also a last resort. People are not as good as dogs when they reach middle age, and everyone has a miserable life. So be it.

It is in the same line as "Old Nowhere", on how to sublimate realistic sketches into criminal masterpieces. The fifth time I watched the movie, the screen was re-watched.

A very dark crime film, the whole film is always in a state of gentle story that is neither too hot nor too cold, the film is a little bit out of touch with the theme of the story, but overall it is still good.
