On growing up, dreaming and making mistakes

I watched the first season of HIMYM in the middle of the night, and there are three scenes in this season that I will never forget.

1. About growing up

When he was young, Barney still had long hair, a beard, wearing very ordinary clothes, working in a coffee shop, and going to Nicaragua to be a peace force with his girlfriend Shannoa. But Shannoa tricked Barney into cuckolding him and messing around with an uncle in a suit who could buy her a lot. Since then, Barney has grown up. He cut off his long hair, replaced it with neat short hair, put on a suit, went to work in a big company, and honed his eloquence. He became a very attractive man among other women, and he had sex with many women, but never again. In some coincidences, he met Shannoa again, and he pushed her down too, but he would never change back to the innocent and single-minded boy he used to be. He reminded me of Gatsby. Gatsby made Daisy leave her because she had no money. Later, he came back to Daisy again after struggling to get rich, but he never wanted to be used by Daisy and finally died. Compared to Barney, Gatsby hasn't grown much emotionally, and we shouldn't be invested in people who hurt us so deeply. Just like what Zheng Wei did to Chen Xiaozheng in "To Youth".

2. About Dreams

In the first season, Vitoria broke up with Ted in order to study in Spain. Originally, Lily and Marshall were ready to get married, but Lily had severe pre-marital phobias, and she applied for a summer scholarship to a school in San Francisco. She didn't want to go, but after arguing many times, they found that there was a gap with each other, and the events were different. The direction develops, and the nine-year relationship comes to an end. Each of us should hold on to our dreams, but we have to figure out what our dreams are. The two couples in the show just didn't figure out what they wanted, and that's why things went bad. Only a small number of people in a long-distance relationship can persevere, and most people die without a problem. If two people grow up in different environments, there will be a vacuum between the two people. To narrow the distance between the two people must work together. It's hard, because people are emotional creatures. Know what your dream is first, and then stick to it.

3. About making mistakes

This season, Ted and Robin have gone round and round and are still together, and both have made some mistakes along the way. It was revealed that Ted cheated on Robin without breaking up with Vitoria, Robin hid his affection for him from Ted, the two tried their best to make each other jealous at the awards ceremony, etc. If this was in reality, the two ended up Shouldn't be together. Everyone makes mistakes, mistakes are wealth, no one is immune to mistakes, but you must face up to your mistakes, don't deceive yourself, and don't repeat the previous mistakes. Especially the mistakes made when you are young are often profound and will become a lifetime wealth, so you should pay attention to them. Of course, if you don't make mistakes, you don't make mistakes. Don't be grateful for mistakes. If you want to be grateful, thank the past self who overcomes mistakes!

  • Ted: So, who are we picking up?

Barney: I dunno... her? Or maybe her...

Ted: Wait, so when you said we were going to pick someone up at the airport, you meant we were going to *pick someone up* at the airport?

    Barney: Yeah...

    Ted: You're kidding!

    Barney: False!

  • Ted: Hey Barney, see that girl?

Barney: Ohhh yeah, you just know she likes it dirty!
