"LA Confidential" is an American film, based on the 1990 novel of the same name, released in 1997 and directed by Curt Henson. It depicts the corrupt police and crime in Los Angeles in the 1950s. L.A. Confidential was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won two awards: Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay. When looking for actors to play key characters Bud and Ed, Hansen unexpectedly used young actors Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce, who were unknown at the time. Although they were very unfamiliar to American audiences, Hansen had no idea. No worries. In order to present Los Angeles, a post-war boomtown, the filmmakers have assembled a heavy-weight behind-the-scenes lineup, including production designer Jeanne Claudia Opois, who is responsible for rebuilding Los Angeles based on historical details, who is good at expressing narrative with light. Featuring DP Dante Spinotti and costume designer Ruth Myers, who recreated '50s luxury.
