It may be that I have passed the age of liking fairy tales, so I am not very moved by this story. What impressed me the most about this movie is the color. The people in the town wear colorful clothes every day, and even their houses are colored, which matches the warm and gossip character of the town people. As one of them, Kim is special but very ordinary, her blonde hair is the look of a typical American sweetheart girl. In terms of color, Edward was just out of place, he was as medieval as his castle, gloomy and abrupt, with shiny black hair, a pale face, and the leather coat and mechanical scissors. Hands, so different, from being enthusiastically noticed to being abandoned, it is all too natural.
I would classify this story as a story about an outlier - that alone is enough for the writers to write a lot of interesting plots: the embarrassment of dressing and eating with Scissors; Scissors' sheer talent for gardening and hair styling ;the police made him raise his hand and lay down his arms gag; but the most peculiar thing is that he can't hug his lover...
I saw a film review saying that this film uses metaphors to tell the contradiction between civilization and the other. It can be understood this way or not, because telling stories of different types can symbolize many meanings. But I think the reason why it is classic is because it is a fairy tale love story, putting love and innocence above all rules, this is Edward's belief~
