After the North American Free Trade Agreement was signed and entered into force in 1992, the border areas of Mexico have become the new bases of many American factories, and the production of a large number of cheap labor and products has become a goal pursued by many manufacturers. During this period, a large number of homicides and violent incidents also occurred in this area. Beginning in 1993, the homicides in Juarez ranged from three deaths a year to three deaths a month, and even spread to surrounding areas. Many of the victims were young women aged 15 to 20. Both Amnesty International and Women's Rights Organization have been urging the police to pay attention. Many relatives of the victims claimed that the perpetrators of this murder were a gang of sexual sadists who specialized in raping and killing women and were connected to the upper echelons. Although the Mexican police have been investigating the case and arrested several suspects, the murders continued. The film was adapted from this case.
