Home Box Office has officially announced that the movie version of [ Deadwood ] will start in October and is expected to be broadcast next spring. In 2017, it was reported that "Deadwood" screenwriter David Milche had completed the script for the film version. The series ran for three seasons from 2004 to 2006, but fans never got a finale, and the series revolved around a mining town outside the borders of the United States. It was previously reported that all the cast members of the original series are expected to return, including Ian McShane , Timothy David Olyphant, John Hawkes , Molly Parker , Brad Dourif , etc.
