The film is an English-language film co-produced by France and Canada. It won the Best New Director Award at the Bekaa Film Festival in New York in 2010. The director is a 30-year-old young Frenchman Kim Chapiron. In this work, there is no compromise and beautification. His realistic and violent style shows his pursuit on the road of realism. During the writing of the script, Chapiron and his partner Delon visited many prisons in the American Midwest, "I want maximum realism", "I've seen too much about Mexicans and Jamaican gangs because of race. The problem is a prison movie that fights and kills, that's not the subject I want to deal with", "The only message that "Dog Pond" wants to convey is that putting juvenile offenders in prison can't solve the problem. This film is me holding up The mirror shows how bad the system is. It's not civilized to lock up those who are still saved (juvenile delinquents) with those who have experienced the most horrific reality
