Fever Pitch evaluation action

Colin Firth's stellar performances in Shakespeare in Love, A Difference Between Father and Daughter and Pride and Prejudice earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor and a European Film Audience Award. "Fever Pitch" is a romantic comedy about football, and for fans, the images of dragons and tigers on the green field are attractive   .
Audiences in Europe are likely to respond to the film, but the film's lack of a strong stylistic character and a TV movie-like appearance in general make its North American box-office potential highly questionable. While Paul and Sarah's relationship deftly mirrors Arsenal's own ups and downs, Sarah's character often drags down the film, especially the suspenseful parts before the upbeat, truly inspirational ending. Colin Firth, who played Mr Darcy on the BBC's Pride and Prejudice, was equally good as Paul, who turned his usually polite tone into an educated bohemian that was very appealing   .

Nick Hornby, a die-hard factory honey, can write this story and this group of people so cute. The complicated feelings and complaints about the beloved team are just right! Why do so many fans of your factory dislike it? ! ? I am a passerby worried for you...

As a fan, I feel the same way. Only a fan can write such a novel, the fan's psychology can be understood, and that kind of belief can only be understood by the same fans. After entering middle age, I finally understand that football is not the whole of life, it is only a small part.

Fever Pitch quotes

  • Sarah Hughes: Paul, it's only a game!

Paul Ashworth: DON'T SAY THAT! Please! That is the worst, most stupid thing anyone could say! Cause it quite clearly isn't "only a game." I mean if it was do you honestly think I'd care this much? Eh? Eighteen years! Eight-teen years! Do you know what you wanted eighteen years ago? Or ten? Or five? Did you want to be Head of Year at North London Comprehensive, I doubt it. I'd doubt if you wanted anything for that long. And if you had, and if you'd spent three months thinking that finally, FINALLY you were gonna get it and just when you think it's there it's taken away from you... I mean I don't care what it is, a car, a job, an Oscar, the baby... then you'd understand how I was feeling tonight. But there isn't, and you don't, so...

Sarah Hughes: So, so what, so fuck off, go home, leave you alone? I'll tell you something Paul, there isn't anything that I've wanted for eighteen years, cause I was a kid eighteen years ago. And if I did still want the same things I'd think I'd gone wrong somewhere, because actually I don't want to marry David Cassidy, I don't want bigger tits, I don't want to do better on my mock-Os. I've stopped worrying about that kind of thing and maybe you should try.

Paul Ashworth: Well maybe there's a big bit of you that's gone missing somewhere, maybe everyone should want something they've always wanted.

  • Paul Ashworth: Would you like a lift?

Sarah Hughes: You don't know where I live.

Paul Ashworth: Yes I do, Crouch End. It's on my way home.

Sarah Hughes: [Sarah gets in the car] How about you?

    Paul Ashworth: Arsenal.

Sarah Hughes: Inside the stadium, or just nearby?
