Ken Roach used his peaceful and compassionate lens to make a mentally chicken soup-style accusation, to pray for a more just society for those who are poor and not being paid attention to.
The film breaks people's prejudice against those who receive relief funds, and straightforwardly portrays the struggles of people at the bottom of society in their lives.
The scene where Katie went to the food relief center to collect food for her child was the most shocking in the film, allowing the audience to see the abuse suffered by this mother. The film also shows how Katie and other people in the same situation continue to change their situation with courage.

Daniel: It's a monumental farce, isn't it? You sitting there with your friendly name tag on your chest, Ann, opposite a sick man looking for nonexistent jobs, that I can't take anyway. Wasting my time, employers' time, your time. And all it does is humiliate me, grind me down. Or is that the point, to get my name off those computers? Well, I'm not doing it any more. I've had enough. I want my date for my appointment for my appeal for Employment and Support.
