Nearly childlike innocence, you have me and I have your humanistic care. It may be the prequel of "The Grand Budapest Hotel" or the key to unlock it in a sense, but like Zweig's European Golden Age, history and this movie are too far away from me.

The masterpiece of Jean Renoir, the originator of the escape film. 1. Escape as a supplement, the main line is anti-war, the title of the film is a pun, which can refer to absurd and ruthless war, but also seems to memorialize the disappearing European chivalry and humanitarianism; 2. French and German soldiers and cross-class Friendship, harmony, warmth, and poetic; 3. Renoir's depth-of-field mirror and scene scheduling, Stroheim's superb performance; 4. Male disguised as a woman, harmonica, geranium, Switzerland in the snow. (8.5/10)
