"Leaving Las Vegas" is a sad and almost desperate work. The film shows the emotion of "finding a reason not to live". The scenes, plots and characters all seem to be wandering in the bustling night scene in a trance-like manner, making Las Vegas like a dream-like fallen city.
The film has no ups and downs of plot, it is not its responsibility to expose the darkness of society, nor does it emphasize the dangers of alcoholism. It eulogizes a great tragic emotion, the most instinctive and most easily distorted truth in human nature. In this sense, the film has the tragic beauty of Puccini's opera. "Leaving Las Vegas" felt a little warmth while experiencing the desperation of the characters in the play. If it weren't, this film would really make people go crazy because of the deep despair. In the film, the director created a fascinating and beautiful world on the screen with strong and strong colors, interspersed with short overexposure shots and melancholic and sad music.
