"My Brilliant Girlfriend" tells the childhood and boyhood of the best friends Lila and Elena. The story begins with friendship, and depicts the subtle changes in women's friendship - their mutual support, jealousy, and suspicion, but never more than that. They are constantly expanding outward, plasticizing themselves in the temptation to the outside world.
Lila is smart and beautiful, she can confront the bullying boys without fear, or go to the feared Archie to get back the toy he stole; Elena admires Lena's learning talent and Superman's decisiveness has been secretly imitating Lila. They all regard each other as their own hidden mirror, secretly wrestling with each other. The family did not support Lila to continue her studies, so she went to work in the shoe repair shop where her father and brother struggled to maintain, and faced the pursuit of several playboys. Elena continued her studies alone with love, jealousy and understanding for her friends, but she was unable to face the loss of competing with Lila.
