Nixon behind the scenes gags

·It uses the same Oval Office ( Oval Office ) in the White House as "The American President" .
During the Nixon and Jones confrontation scene, a table mat was scorched due to the high temperature of the lights and started to smoke. Thanks to an extra who discovered the situation in time and whispered "it's on fire" between the lead's lines, James Woods stopped filming and the cushion didn't burn.
· Nixon's daughters have publicly criticized the film.
Nixon also died in 1994 at the end of the film's production, and footage and narration of his funeral was added before the film was released.
· In order to play this role, Anthony Hopkins watched each of Nixon's speeches several times, and visited some of Nixon's friends to gain some deeper understanding of the characters.
· Tom Hanks once turned down the role of Nixon. Jack Nicholson was also considered. When Oliver Stone saw Anthony Hopkins' "The Remains Of The Day," he decided to cast Anthony because he was a good showcase for the inner conflict of the characters.
• When Nixon spoke to the CIA director, the director quoted his favorite poem by Ye Ci, who was related to the family of Anthony Hopkins' mother.

212 minutes director's cut version, eyes with gold stars = =. Stone still uses a variety of editing techniques, and seems to want to replicate the success of JFK (even the music on 11/22/63 is... XD. I saw Bobby's image in "Face of November", sigh) , but the interjection is not very effective, plus a large number of white old men who are similar to each other, I feel very tired, and my eyes are almost blinded. The most unacceptable thing is this completely miscast casting. I really can't believe that Hopkins, who doesn't even match his racial characteristics, is Nixon. One star is deducted.

On the whole, the filming is a bit lengthy, the editing is messy, and it is not as shocking as JFK. Obviously Nixon's experience as president is more legendary, but people will always remember JFK, maybe this is the so-called establishment. Now just sit back and wait for Trump to die and Oliver Stone to come back to make a trilogy that makes up the "Unfinished U.S. Presidential Trilogy"...

Nixon quotes

Richard M. Nixon: I bet if I was President they wouldn't have killed me.

  • [to a White House portrait of Dwight Eisenhower]

Richard M. Nixon: I hope I haven't let you down.
