In order to repay Schindler's life-saving grace, Podeck Pfeifferberg, who survived World War II, decided to spend his life telling the story of Schindler's saving the Jews. In 1963, Pfeifferberg tried to co-produce a biopic about Schindler with MGM, but failed in the end. In 1982, the Australian novelist Thomas Kennelly published the novel "Schindler's Ark" after meeting Pfeifferberg. American Music Company President Sid Schieenberg handed Steven Spielberg a "New York Times" book review. Spielberg was shocked by Schindler’s story and even raised the issue of the authenticity of the novel’s content. Doubtfully, he wanted to know what drove a man to save those innocent lives. Spielberg, who had a keen interest, hoped that Universal Pictures could buy the right to film the adaptation of the novel.
After hearing about the acts of ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and the shameless remarks of the deniers of the Holocaust, Spielberg finally decided to personally direct "Schindler's List" because neo-Nazism began to rise after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and Spielberg Ge is of Jewish descent. Sid Scheinberg agreed to film "Schindler's List", but only if Spielberg had to direct "Jurassic Park" first.

Schindler's List quotes

  • Oskar Schindler: Boxed teas are good - coffee, pâté... um, kielbasa sausage, cheeses, beluga caviar. And of course, who could live without German cigarettes? As many as you can find. Some more fresh fruit, the real rarities - oranges, lemons, pineapples. I'll need several boxes of Cuban cigars, the best. And dark unsweetened chocolate, not in the shape of lady fingers - the chunk chocolate, as big as my hand, you sample at wine tastings. I'm going to need lots of cognac, the best, Hennessy. Dom Pérignon champagne... Um, get L'Espadon sardines. And, oh - try to find nylon stockings.

  • Amon Goeth: My place is where?

    S.S. Guard: There, sir.

    Amon Goeth: There?

    S.S. Guard: Yeah, it's a villa.

Amon Goeth: You call that a villa!

S.S. Guard: The synagogue, can you see it?

Amon Goeth: That's not a villa...

S.S. Guard: We're planning on turning it into the camp stables.

    Amon Goeth: It's a house!
