"Small Time Crooks" did not appear a breakthrough scene, director Woody Allen almost gave up all those unique techniques in the past, instead telling a modern fairy tale with dramatic changes in the form of a popular drama. The protagonist of the fairy tale is just like ordinary little people in the city. They realize their dreams in the film and give them helpless comfort. Although the film carries the narcotic power of "the poor have poor lives, and the poor have poor blessings", it cannot but be said to be a kind of warm blessing and comfort to the small people who have failed.
