"Small Time Crooks" did not appear a breakthrough scene, director Woody Allen almost gave up all those unique techniques in the past, instead telling a modern fairy tale with dramatic changes in the form of a popular drama. The protagonist of the fairy tale is just like ordinary little people in the city. They realize their dreams in the film and give them helpless comfort.
