This film is adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's short story "Dr. Tal and Professor Fessell's Therapy". It tells the story of a psychiatric hospital doctor who fell in love with a beautiful female patient. In the story, an Oxford University psychiatrist and scholar came to work in a mental hospital. At first he did not find any abnormalities, but over time he gradually noticed that the hospital had been controlled by those hysterical patients. Doctors and nurses have become poor victims.
On Christmas Eve in 1899, Edward Newgategraduate student of Oxford University Medical Schoolcame to the Stoneha List Mental Hospital. He has been interested in these suffering souls since he was a child and is eager to learn clinical experience here. Dr. Silas Lambwas very happy to share his knowledge and ideas, took Edward to visit the hospital, and proudly introduced the staff there and the patients under his care. Among them is the beautiful Eliza Graves, who hates intimate behavior and is accompanied by violence, which allows her to obtain permanent residency here. One night, Edward heard the sound of metal tapping from the vent of the dormitory. He followed the sound to the dark cellar where Benjamin Soter, the real director of the mental hospital, was closed.
