"When Happiness Knocks on the Door" is adapted from the autobiography of the same name published in 2007 by Chris Gardner, a black American investment expert. This is a typical American inspirational story. As a single father, Gardner was once faced with a dilemma that even his own food and clothing could not solve. In the most difficult period, Gardner could only carry his only possessions on his back, and then he went to the homeless shelter with his son, holding a diaper in one hand and a stroller in the other. When there is really nowhere to stay, the father and son can only spend the night in places like parks and subway toilets.
The lead actor Will Smith does not often appear in this kind of literary and artistic films. This time, he was moved by the script adapted from a real biography and decided to play the leading actor and acted as the producer himself. He also hired "Impact Effect". The popular black actress Tandi starred. Because I admire Gabriel Mucino’s films "The Last Kiss" and "Same Bed Different Dreams", Will Smith invited Gabriel Mucino to direct the film.
