"The Sound of Music" is adapted from the Broadway musical of the same name, based on Maria von Trapp's bookAdapted. The filming locations of the film are also in Salzburg, Austria and Bavaria mentioned in the original work.
The producer of the film initially wanted to direct the Hollywood director, who had directed "Benxu" . At that time, he had already screened the scene and made some changes to the original script. In his mind, "The Sound of Music" is completely different, and William Wheeler even wanted to shoot some war scenes to enhance the atmosphere. Two years before the musical of the same name was staged on Broadway, Paramount bought the rights to the story from von Chapi Singer and planned to use Audrey Hepburn as Maria. Audrey Hepburn refused to play, and Paramount immediately abandoned the film plan.
