It tells that when the Royal Navy Panic was exploring the Northwest Passage of the Arctic Circle in 1847, their ship was attacked by an unknown predator, so the crew had to fight for survival. The novel is based on the story of "HMS Erebus" (HMS Erebus) and "HMS Terror" (HMS Terror) led by John Franklin.    Jared Harris plays Francis Crozier, the captain of the Panic and the second commander of the expedition. He is a wise sailor and captain, but being an Irishman makes his career in the Royal Navy a bottleneck. (Originally glass ceiling, This means that because of a person’s gender or identity or a certain personal reason, even though there is no explicit text, he is still restricted from promotion), so that he has no expectation of becoming famous and political career.
Ciaran Hinds played John Franklin/Sir John Franklin, Paul Ready played Henry Goodsir, Adam Nagaitis played Cornelius Hickey, they and Tobias Menzies' role James Fitzjames (a member of the Royal Navy) were both expedition crew members.
Edward Ashley and Liam Garrigan played crew members on the Fright, while Ronan Raftery and Matthew McNulty both played the captains on the Fright.

I like some of the adaptations in the series. Hickey has changed it to his own heart. He is more scheming/smart/manipulating people's hearts than the book! The young and old pair is also a clear spring, earning my tears away. Goodsir is the most kind-hearted person in the polar regions, not one of them! And at the end, it seemed that Crozier's halo was not as huge as in the book. The most important thing in the play is not the evil spirits, but the human nature reflected in this harsh environment.

The pre-ordered drama of 2018 is full of sense of various old dramas joining claustrophobia and deepening sea phobia, the first episode is already very exciting
