Although the film is about gay love, the director did not regard the topic of sexual orientation and homosexuality as a "special" theme at all. This may have something to do with the director's identity as a gay person. In his eyes, this is just a normal love story, a blind boy holding hands with another boy, that's all. The little ambiguity between the two beautiful boys in the film is a mess of innocence and beauty. In contrast, domestic youth films often appear deliberately artificial.
