- John Swithen has always regarded the dome as a symbol of the earth whose environment is seriously threatened, so he and the creators of the TV series emphasize that no matter how different their stories are from the novel, they must retain these important themes.
- After the first season of "Under the Dome" was broadcast, it was planned to be filmed for multiple seasons, because John Swithen and the screenwriters were trying to explore some dark story clues not mentioned in the book.
