Continuity: At the beginning of the film, Roy got out of the car and wanted to walk across the Waterloo Bridge alone, and ordered the driver to wait for him on the other side of the bridge. The movie started to flash back when he was walking, but in the final shot, they were seen driving across the bridge and then leaving.
Anachronism: Although the film took place during the First World War before 1920, all the dresses and hairstyles of the heroine Mara were in fact the most popular in the 1940s.
Anachronism: Shortly after the beginning of the film, after the air raid warning ended, Roy and Mara came out of the underground air-raid shelter. You can clearly see a traffic light at the top right of the screen. The first time that traffic lights appeared in London was 1931.
Display error: When Roy took the special express train back to London from Scotland, the train showed the Great Western Railway. In fact, this company was only responsible for the railway transportation from Paddington in London to West England and Wales.

Waterloo Bridge quotes

  • Lady Margaret Cronin: Forgive me, my dear, but, are you quite well?

Myra Lester: Yes-yes, of course. I had a drink, that's all, it made me feel funny, queer! What's it like in Scotland? I've never been there. It always sounds so quaint, you know, the heather and the peat. Ha-ha. Peat comes from Ireland, doesn't it. I've never been there, either.

  • Myra Lester: How have we been living?

Kitty: What difference does it make, as long as we live.

Myra Lester: Where's the money coming from? Where are you getting it?

Kitty: Where do you think I've been getting it? I was trying to keep it from you, but - well, you know now.

Myra Lester: You did it for me.

Kitty: No I didn't! I'd a done it anyhow. C'est La Guerre. No jobs. No boys who want to marry you. Only men who want to kill a few hours, 'cause they know it may be their last.
