The film unfolds from the perspective of the Grim Reaper, so the era of Nazi Germany in 194x unfolds slowly. A 9-year-old girl from East Germany, Liesel, lived in that era with the parting of her mother and the death of her younger brother. She came to Nazi Germany and joined a strange family. In those hard times, the days of air raids/deaths every day, saw the optimism of people, the innocence and beauty of the heart, the desire for survival, for beauty, for sunshine.
An important part of the little girl's life is books. She picked up a book "Grave Robber's Handbook" at her brother's funeral. With the help of her adoptive father, she started her reading journey. The family where her mother washed clothes for others was a high-ranking Nazi official. There were a lot of books at home. Later, every time she delivered clothes, the hostess would invite her to read books. She tried to memorize those words she didn’t know, and wrote them down on the blackboard in the basement when she got home. . Until one day, a high-ranking Nazi official found out that the business was gone and the book had no chance to read. In order to give Max hope to a seriously ill Jewish man hiding in her house, she went to a high official's house to steal books and returned to Max to read.
Max couldn't go out, and he asked Liesel to describe to him everything she saw outside, with her heart and not just her eyes. On Christmas Day, Max gave her the only thing she had, a homemade blank notebook. In Judaism, he said, "we're taught that every living thing, every leaf, every bird, is only alive because it contains the secret word for life. This is the only difference between us and a lump of clay- A Word ', he said 'Words are life', and 'all these blank pages are for you to fill'. It permeates a kind of human reverence for words and respect for books.
There is no big scene, no noise, but there are gunfire, accordion, reading; there is no heartbreaking, but there are subtle human brilliance, like a green leaf growing tall and straight in the ruins, an inadvertent wisp in the sky. Gorgeous rainbows, moisten people's hearts, wash people's souls...

"I must say it!.." "Don't say anything!" "I lov...." "Rudy?! Rudy! Get up and kiss me!".. Here my tears completely broke my bank I feel that the movie is great, I am very touched, and I can especially appreciate the feeling of being sad and helpless when I don’t know when to meet my relatives.
