"The God of Sushi": the art of simplicity.

When I was a child, I watched "China's Little Master", and my eyes would stare at all kinds of food. Although across the screen, I feel that the food inside is exquisite and delicious.

But when I grew up, I found out that TV is full of deceit.

Exquisite is not delicious, delicious is not exquisite.

But there is one store that does both.

Even if it costs $400 per person, even if you book a month in advance, a meal only takes 15 minutes.

The name of the store is Sukiyabashi Jiro , and the person who runs the store is Jiro Ono , a 94-year-old grandfather .

Despite being 94 years old, every sushi dish made is a work of art.

Senior gourmets will be slightly nervous in front of him.

He called Grandpa Erlang's sushi "minimalist and pure."

What is minimalism?

Their store only sells sushi, not drinks and side dishes.

What is pure?

They don't care about cost and time when making sushi. They will pick the best fish, the best rice, and make the best sushi.

Making something universal unique is not easy.

It took ten years for Grandpa Erlang to come up with the order of taste of sushi.

How many people can achieve such perseverance?

Jiro Ono is known as "Japan's No. 1 sushi chef".

In Japan, "craftsman" is an awe-inspiring term for those skilled in craftsmanship. Literally simple, the "workman spirit" stands for excellence, perseverance and the preservation of tradition. In China, we call it "craftsman spirit".

Grandpa Erlang has two sons, and he opened branches in other places after learning the craftsmanship under him. The eldest son will inherit his father's storefront when his grandfather retires.

In addition to cultivating his own son, Grandpa Erlang will also accept some apprentices, but even a simple fried egg requires ten years of academic experience.

Not for anything else, just to improve the craftsmanship.

Everyone is looking for a recipe for victory, but they don't know that this is the key to victory.

Even Grandpa Erlang has been focusing on improving his skills as always.

In order to make the octopus flesh softer, the old man personally kneaded for forty or fifty minutes.

The most commendable thing is that Grandpa Erlang has always been enthusiastic about his work, from the beginning to the end.

He has reached a very high level, but he is still not satisfied.

And you must never have imagined that such a perfectionist person was a naughty bag when he was young.

I really fell in love with this cute and dedicated grandpa!

The documentary "The God of Sushi" taught me that not everything on TV is a lie.

It turned out that someone really liked what was said in "Da Jang Geum": When making food, a smile appeared on the face of the person who thought about it. This is her little wish. Although the wish is small, it is very caring.

Universe Invincible envy those who can eat the sushi he made!

Finally, I will send you a wise saying from my grandfather.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi quotes

  • Jiro Ono: When I was in school... I was a bad kid. Later, when I was invited to give a talk at the school, I wasn't sure if I should tell the kids that they should study hard... or that it is okay to be a rebel. I wasn't sure what advice to give the kids. Studying hard doesn't guarantee you will become a respectable person. Even if you're a bad kid... there are people like me who change. I thought that would be a good lesson to teach. But if I said that bad kids can succeed later on like I did... all the kids would start misbehaving which would be a problem. Always doing what you are told doesn't mean you'll succeed in life.

  • Yoshikazu Ono: [on one of his fish vendors] His grandfather was known as "the god of sea eel." He was a legend. I've never met him in person, but that's what I've heard.
