The British Free Film Movement emphasized the freedom of the creator's point of view, the freedom from various restrictions, and the attention to social issues. The film did not evaluate the male protagonist who lived a disorderly life in the traditional sense. The work tries its best to squander the cyclic life in pursuit of excitement to show a social group with an empty heart. The film adds a lot of the protagonist's views on things (inner monologue or dialogue), showing the dissatisfaction of the younger generation with life and the dissatisfaction with the seniors. Understanding, such a positive portrayal of such an unabashed, pleasure-seeking natural rebel, is rare before.
