Synopsis
John (James Stewart) was originally a policeman. He had a fear of heights. During a hunt for a fugitive, he saw his colleague fall off a building and died but he was helpless.
Since then, I left a shadow in my heart, so I quit my job and stayed at home.
Gavin is an old classmate John hasn't seen for a long time. This day he suddenly invited John to his office to reminisce about the past.
John arrived as scheduled, but it is strange that Gavin even offered to let him help track his wife Madelyn (Jim Novak).
Gavin said that Madeleine behaved very strangely recently, she often became dull and even often forgot the places she had been to . Gavin suspected that she was possessed by a dead person .
John, who had nothing to do beforehand, quickly agreed to Gavin's request.
After the tracking started, John discovered that Madeleine was a very beautiful woman. He would often go to the gallery to see a painting. What was strange was that the woman in that painting looked very similar to her .
After questioning the staff, John learned that the woman in the painting was named Carlotta , but what did it have to do with Madeleine?
What's even stranger is that afterwards Madeleine disappeared into a hotel out of thin air, like a ghost.
So John told Gavin about the situation and learned from him that Carlotta was Madeleine's great-grandmother .
After giving birth to a child when he was young, he was abandoned by a man and committed suicide, but Madeleine did not know about it.
Although John finds it incredible, it is true that Madeleine's actions and her disappearance out of thin air.
If she is really possessed by a great-grandmother, she may be in danger.

Film Analysis
"Victorius" is one of Hitchcock's most classic works, and it is also the most worthy of repeated viewing and research. The film was selected as one of the "100 Years Best Films" by the American Film Institute in 2007 and was featured in the 2012 British Magazine "Video and Audio" ranked first among the "Top Ten Films in Film History".
The overall structure of the film’s story is divided into two sections . The main line is very clear and the narrative is very simple. However, the core of the film revealed from the psychology of the characters is more complicated. I believe everyone will have a different interpretation. I want to look at it from two perspectives. Let me briefly talk about the feelings that the film brings to me.
If the first paragraph of the story is summed up in one word, I think it is "desire . " At the beginning of the film, our male protagonist John did not agree to help Gavin track his wife, but he changed his mind after seeing Madeleine in the restaurant. Looking back at this section, we will find that the director deliberately used tones to connect Madeleine to the crowd. To distinguish it, green is particularly eye-catching in a sea of red, and it is very attractive. As the audience, we must be like John and have a keen interest in this beautiful woman full of mystery. This is what lurks in our hearts. Desire .
In the follow-up process, the mysterious Madeleine first aroused John's desire to explore , because people are often full of strong curiosity about the unknown while ensuring safety. Then Madeleine fell into the water and almost died in front of John's eyes, which aroused John's protective desire , and finally, Madeleine's leave without saying goodbye to John's possessive desire also sprouted. Since then, he has disregarded that Madeleine is the wife of his classmates, and this is why people break the moral line or go to crime.
Next is the second paragraph of the story, because it involves a key plot, it is recommended to read it after watching the movie . If it is still summarized in one word, I think it is "retribution . " First, Judy committed a crime for the money. She became Gavin's accomplice in killing his wife. In order to complete her task, she must deceive John and lead him to the church. But surprisingly, she actually did a fake show and fell in love with him.
After John finds her, Judy naively thinks that she can earn money, not only hide John but also make him fall in love with her true self, but the reality is that John loves the mysterious role she deliberately plays and satisfies his heart. The desire is nothing. So after she showed her feet, John ruthlessly pierced her, because the perfect fantasy in his heart had been shattered.
At the end of the film, Judy was taken to the church by John, at the place where she conspired to murder. She was afraid that Madeleine’s ghost would come back for revenge, so when she saw the nun, she was so terrified that she fell and died. Her retribution. Since Judy agreed to Gavin, her destiny seems to be doomed. She deceived John to fall in love with him, then cater to him, and finally walked on the path of self-reliance. So don’t do things that hurt the nature and reason. People who do all the bad things can do it. I've been afraid of a ghost knocking on the door in the middle of the night all day , and such a mentality will make the retribution come sooner or later.
People must learn to restrain their inner desires, otherwise they will one day be bitten by them and pay the price.
