classic charm

I just finished reading the original book and watched the Polanski version of the movie, and found that although there are few comments, there are still more than 20 comments, but looking back at this Oscar-winning classic, no one commented, and I am really puzzled. Although I was sleepy and tired, I really couldn't bear to let the classics and movies disappear like this, so I wrote a few words to express my mood. I will write more when I have time in the future.
I think if you want to comment on a movie based on a famous book, you must use the original as a reference, but seeing many friends on the forum admit that they have not seen the original, I certainly admire your courage and honesty. But even more distressing is that the famous book is ignored. Maybe watching movies adapted from famous novels has become more of a petty bourgeois fashion. Of course, there are many objective reasons, but I really hope that everyone can pay more attention to famous books and not be led by the nose too much. Misunderstandings are sometimes more poisonous than ignorance.
Of course, but not impossible when it comes to movies. Then it must be clearly separated.
To put it simply, when I saw David Lean's Oliver Twist, I was really shocked, by his meticulous organization, by the eyes and actions of the young actors, by the good or evil of other people. It's a treat.
It's too late today, let's go to another day.

After watching it, I found out that this is an old movie from 1948, not the movie of the same name that I wanted to watch. There seem to be quite a few versions of "Oliver Twist", but overall I was not disappointed. The light and shadow under the black and white lens has a unique beauty. The last paragraph tells us that old movies also have big scenes. The most impressive thing is the shivering dog, which is really amazing.

The adaptation is too simple, omitting the long experience of Oliver's life, and the rhythm of the second half is too fast and dramatic, I prefer Polanski's version.
