I haven't watched the first part, and I don't know the previous situation, but it doesn't prevent watching the second part.
When I watched it with my child, the protagonist was a Nendoroid/dog/sheep/etc.... There were no lines in the whole process. I thought the child would not like it and couldn't watch it anymore, but I didn't expect him to watch it with relish.
The story is old but complete. Mysterious alien creatures, cute lambs, shepherd dogs who are strict first and then warm, and even people who seem to be bad guys have their reversals in the end. Watching the film can feel the friendship and family love reflected in the film
