The government is born from the people, but because of different positions, it is often opposed to the people. At this time, the people need to exercise their rights and let the government hear the voice of the people. But when we exercise our rights, we need to understand whether we oppose it for the sake of opposition, to gain popularity, or really for our own ideals and beliefs.
I understand that the director wants to praise this freedom of speech and defend the spirit of freedom. Indeed, freedom is the root of human existence in society. Everyone should have the right to express their own ideas, whether they conform to mainstream thinking or not. Maybe this kind of thinking is negative, but who can guarantee that his thinking is right? Protecting freedom of speech and protecting the interests of minorities is precisely so that when the group is frantically rushing to the cliff, one person can pull back from the precipice.
But obviously, the director did not tell the story well. The theme of the film is very confusing, and the director does not clearly tell us what the reason for opposing the WTO is. The male protagonist is entirely to vent his personal anger, and the other three organizers are obviously "professional parade households". I don't think there is anything wrong with the measures taken by the relevant government departments, at least they are much looser than those in my country. In order to understand the motives of the protagonists in the film, I specially searched for a lot of information about the WTO. As a result, in the end, I felt that I was being laughed at. Even the protagonists themselves did not know what the WTO was. What are you doing? Against authority? Unconventional? Or brush the sense of presence? "Nothing is happening right now, but we have the right to speak up" bollshit! This irrational voice has no meaning to the world.
Democracy is the consensus that a civilized society should have. But democracy should not be used for irrational catharsis. People with democratic rights should be more rational, examine every issue carefully, and never back down when they should rise up. I think this is the ideal state of democracy.
