"The Truth About Death" by Rebecca

"Thought" and "truth".

People always believe that what they think and guess must be the truth.

The truth that an event is brought to an end is not necessarily the truth.

Rebecca's "Death Truth" Experience:

Uninformed public: accident-suicide/murder-suicide.

At first, the public thought that Rebecca's death was an accident at sea.

When the ship containing Rebecca's actual body was found, the holes and valves were found to have been made from inside the ship, and Rebecca's death was considered suicide by the public who thought Winter and Rebecca were a happy couple.

Rebacca's lover and loyal servant firmly believed that she would not commit suicide, believing that Winter was responsible, and that Rebecca's death was murder.

With doctors telling Rebecca that she had learned she had cancer before she died, the public believed Rebecca had a suicidal motive and thought she was suicidal.

Mr. Winter who thought he knew the truth: Accident - Suicide

Rebecca verbally provoked Winter at the seaside hut, stumbled, and died after hitting his head with a blunt tool on fishing gear. Winter believed that no one would believe his innocence, put the body in the boat, and sank the boat.

With doctors telling Rebecca that she had learned she had cancer before she died, Winter realized that Rebecca was trying to provoke him that night to kill her.

I think (hahahaha...) this film explores the "thought" and "truth" of a death.

Although the director said that the film he made was a failure, it was a big success in the end. It should be because he had too high demands on himself. The color change of the film is not only a change in color, but also echoes the advancement of the plot, which is a bonus.

Rebecca is not only the embryonic form of "Mugfin", but also the embryonic form of femme fatale in many noir films. The design of this character is great. In fact, in a sense, this film is the story of the mansion, and the mansion is the real main character of this film and the biggest nightmare. Hitchcock's first work after he went to the United States also won him the only Oscar for Best Picture.

Rebecca quotes

  • Maxim de Winter: [after he has asked her to marry him] My suggestion doesn't seem to have gone at all well, i'm sorry.

The Second Mrs. de Winter: Oh, but you don't understand! It's that I... well I'm not the sort of person men marry.

  • Mrs. de Winter: I wish I were a woman of 36, dressed in black satin with a string of pearls!
