There is no morality, only benefits

The translation of "The Gangster Dragon and Tiger Fighting" is far-fetched, so it is better to call it "Miller's Crossroads".

Many people have seen passionate things like friendship and loyalty in the film. I only see betrayal and deceit. After all, digging into the dark side of human nature is the strength of the Coen brothers.

Tommy has been a military officer for the gang boss Leo for a long time. Basically, the boss heard him right. But so what? For a woman's unreliable brother Pony, the boss will fight his opponent at all costs. His words are just a thing of the past. Later, the enemy almost killed the boss, and Tommy would not hesitate to tell the boss that the woman he loved actually had an affair with him, hoping that the boss could see the reality clearly. As a result, Tommy was swept out and forced to join the enemy camp. Next, Tommy designed a series of sets to get rid of the opponent, but also left the boss and the boss woman.

If you watched more of Wu Yusen's movies, you must think that Tommy is simply the lone hero of the Hong Kong shootout film: wisdom, loyalty and loyalty. In fact, from a purely commercial point of view, Tommy is just a professional manager, and what he does is the ethics of a professional manager. All actions are the result of caress and cares, not a passionate stab.

First of all, remind the boss not to do stupid things. He said: Think about the benefits of protecting Pony to us, and then think about the downsides of opposing Casper. It's not the so-called gang slogan that you have to protect. Gangs are nothing more than business. Besides, having an affair with the boss's woman shouldn't be something the most loyal deputy should do, especially that woman is nothing special. As for not hesitating to betray the woman to remind the boss, it is also because the boss’s business is actually his own way of life, and the love for children is actually unreliable.

Being kicked out by the boss is actually expected. As a professional manager, he would do his best to do this. The boss chose not to trust him, just like his hat in a dream, let it fly if it flies. All he could do was release him when Bonnie begged him. Killing is not what he did.

Nevertheless: women hate him, so narrow that they sacrifice everyone for a shameless brother. She said: You can only deceive and have no conscience. The boss hates him, feels that cuckold is more humiliating than anything, and would rather ruin his own stall. Without saying anything, he punched him out of the door. That younger brother even avenged his grudges, and in turn threatened him.

Some people will say, you see this person is courageous and loyal, even if everyone misunderstood him, he still did not betray them, and helped them get rid of their opponents. In fact, he had no choice. The opponent's military division was similar to him, all calm and sober, acting meticulously. He can't really get the trust of the other party, especially when he has been deceiving the other party. Someone said: He can run. Actually, he can't run. He still owes money to another group of people (indicating that the boss is not very good to him). Only by keeping this round will he have the possibility of life, which has nothing to do with morality and justice. This is why he killed Bonnie, even knowing that the woman would not forgive him. Some people say that he is good at playing, but in fact, he is just lucky. If there is no corpse in the forest, if the boss of the other party is not obsessed. . . He has no chance of winning, but every step he makes is the best choice he can make. A bad hand, but didn't lose. I can only say that the opponent is too bad.

Reminiscent of the recent Gome battle, many people criticized Chen Xiao for not having the ethics of a professional manager. In fact, under the current economic conditions, private enterprises are taking a gray road of development. This is very similar to the gang, which is doomed to the family nature of private enterprises. It is difficult for professional managers to gain true trust. After all, everyone is not innocent. Professional ethics is a ridiculous term. Just like the two bosses in this movie, since they can't get things on the table, who is credible? Isn’t the attitude towards the second child always come and go? Usually the salary is not high, so you kill if you say kill.
If it was said that Tommy still had a "heart" at the beginning, when Pawnee used the same language for the second time to ask him to show him his conscience, Tommy said "What conscience?" Then he replied with a bullet.

Everyone sympathizes with Huang Guangyu, but what is the difference between him and these two bosses?

My favorite of the Coen Brothers films I've seen so far. The plot develops smoothly, and not a single shot or scene is superfluous. The plot is cleverly arranged, and there is no absolute climax one by one, but there are several places that make people nervous. The characters are deeply portrayed, even if it is a trick that appears once. The soundtrack is amazing, with "Danny Boy" reverberating in the Rush. There is no multi-line narrative, but such an awesome plot arrangement shows the black humor of the Coen brothers

The Coen Brothers read the film. The rating is so high, but I really don't understand it, it doesn't look good.

Miller's Crossing quotes

  • Tom Reagan: All in all not a bad guy - if looks, brains and personality don't count.

Verna: You better hope they don't.

  • Eddie Dane: Where's Leo?

Hitman at Verna's: If I tell you, how do I know you won't kill me?

Eddie Dane: Because if you told me and I killed you and you were lying I wouldn't get to kill you *then*. Where's Leo?

Hitman at Verna's: He's moving around. He's getting his mob together tomorrow night. Whisky Nick's.

    Eddie Dane: You sure?

Hitman at Verna's: Check it. It's gold.

Eddie Dane: You know what, yegg? I believe you.
