What is this film expressing, is it expressing criticism of the US launching the Iraq War? Not too! We know that criticism must be based on facts. Although the facts described in the film are not required to be completely consistent with the truth, at least there must be typical representation or general recognition. For example, the destruction of people's lives caused by the Iraq War described in the movie is a fact that most people admit, but it is obviously not enough to criticize this from this point alone. What other war does not have countless innocent victims? Compared with the cost of life and death paid for the establishment of New China, this cost is almost insignificant. Therefore, the existence of innocent victims cannot be a reason to deny a war! In the play, Clark, a government official who created a conspiracy to attack Iraq, and Miller, a soldier who has a sense of justice and the courage to find out the truth, are obviously fictitious and have no real factual basis. Therefore, this movie cannot be sure that the Iraq war was the US government. Conspiracy, at best, is just speculation, and criticism is out of the question.
So what exactly is what this movie is trying to express, that is, if anyone has made a mistake or done a bad thing, it cannot be covered up for any reason! Americans don't care that the image of their own government will suffer because of this, because the government is just an elected temporary agent who will be regulated, questioned, criticized, and accused at any time. Compared with the face of the government, Americans care more about the facts, and this is the common American value - always pursue the truth!
