피에타(2012)
The film won the Golden Lion Award at the 69th Venice Film Festival in 2012.
The film tells the story of a mother's revenge. The male protagonist is a thug who helps people collect debts. For those who can't repay the money, the hero will make them disabled so that they can take the insurance money to pay off the debt. One day, a woman suddenly came to the male protagonist's house, claiming to be his mother. The male lead didn't believe it at first, but after the male lead forced sex with a woman, the male lead accepted him. After a while, when the two were hanging out on the street, a man disabled by the hero suddenly appeared, kidnapped the woman and wanted to burn the hero to death. The woman broke free, and the male protagonist stabbed the man seriously. Then, on the hero's birthday, the woman came to a frozen corpse and cried. It turns out that the woman is not the real mother of the hero, her son was forced to death by the hero, and she approached the hero for revenge. Next, the woman creates the illusion that she has been kidnapped, so that the hero thinks she is in danger. The male protagonist was easily fooled and began to look for his mother everywhere. But on the way to search, the male protagonist saw many people who were disabled by himself, and they all lived very hard. Later, the woman asked the male protagonist to a place, jumped from the upstairs in front of him, and fell to his death on the spot. When the male protagonist buried her according to the woman's wishes, he discovered her son's body, and the male protagonist knew the truth. In the end, the actor tied himself under a truck and drew a long blood trail as the car drove.
This movie is not good-looking, and it is very cliché. It is a story mode that often appears in Korean movies - revenge! It's just that there is a new method of revenge in this film, not to hurt the enemy's body, but to let his soul collapse. In my opinion, this is changing the soup instead of the medicine, and there is nothing new.
In a nutshell, this film tells the story of a man who lost his mother's love, after experiencing a false family relationship, came to his senses, understood his sins, and finally committed suicide. On the whole, it is easier to understand, but it hurts others from the heart. Although there is a reversal of the plot in the second half of the movie, it is still the old routine of revenge and repentance, and it cannot escape the inherent pattern. Such a film can win the Golden Lion Award, it is estimated that the judges are because this film is an oriental film.
Another thing I forgot to mention is that this film also reflects some Korean social realities, that is, what life is like for people at the bottom. Through these, we can see that South Korea has bright cities and dilapidated slums. Of course, the movie also shows the effect of "money" on people, but in my opinion, the point of the movie is to show revenge, and money is only the cause.
The filming is fairly standard, but there are still some characteristics, such as not much dialogue, little music, cold tones, and heavy expressions of the characters. Through these, we can feel that Korean society is not a "harmonious society".
The actors are wonderful. The actor 이정진 and the heroine 조민수 have superb acting skills and are impressive. The two of them performed various emotions of the characters simply by relying on their expressions through a few conversations. They are both good actors. In addition, 이정진 and Lei Jiayin look very similar, and the hairstyle is more handsome than Lei Jiayin. Not to mention his people, not many scenes are just tricks.
in conclusion. This is a cliché revenge movie. Although various sources on the Internet say it has something to do with religion, I don't see it at all, maybe because I don't understand religion.
