Otilia: Yes.
Receptionist: You have a dormitory, why are you staying in a hotel?
Otilia: We have exams, and there are six people in a dormitory, so it's hard to concentrate on studying.
Receptionist: Two people?
Otilia: Yes.
Receptionist: There is also a quadruple room, but you have to live with other guests. (She glances at Otilia)
Otilia: No, that's fine.
Receptionist: It saves money that way.
Otilia: No, I want the previous one.
Receptionist: As you wish. (Reading her name on the document) Michaltescu.
Otilia: Michaltescu. There is a T.
Receptionist: You have to change your ID, if the police find you...
Otilia: Yeah, I forgot to take it out of my pocket when I was doing the laundry.
She forced a smile as she said that, but the receptionist didn't seem to have any sense of humor.
Receptionist: What about the other person?
Otilia: Dragutz. (The receptionist looks at her) That's her name!
Receptionist: Also a lady?
Otilia: Yes. The teachers at the school reacted the same way to you. Draguts Gabriela.
Marcu flashed from the depths of the screen, and there were footsteps. Otilia looked in his direction, then turned to the receptionist.
Receptionist: One hundred and eighty-six lei.
Otilia: How much?
Receptionist: One hundred and eighty-six.
Otilia: Excuse me, how much is a night?
Receptionist: Posted there: Double room, sixty-two lei.
With Otilia's ID card in her hand, she pointed to the house price table outside the painting.
Otilia: Can I pay for your first night first? (Otilia looks at her a little worriedly)
Receptionist (looks at Otilia emotionally): I've already changed your reservation for you. If you want it, if you don't want it...
Otilia: All right, all right...
Receptionist: The room must be vacated by 12 o'clock. If you leave, leave the key at the front desk.
Otilia: Okay... (she pushes the cigarette left on the counter to the receptionist) Thank you.
The receptionist draws from the right. Otilia turned and walked towards a phone hanging on the wall on the left in the background. She took off the microphone.

University dormitory foyer, interior, day
16. A phone on a table in the foreground is ringing loudly. A janitor emerges from the left in the background, takes a few steps, and picks up the phone.
Janitor: Building 14... (pause) Hello. (Pause) I don't know if she's there. (Pause) I'll go up and have a look. Are you in a hurry?
He put the handset on the table next to the phone and walked in the direction he came from.

Hotel Targu Mures, Interior, Day
17. Close-up of the right side of Otilia standing by the phone.
Otilia: Gabita, it's done, I got the room. But not in Uniria, it was Targu Mures. (Pause) She told me that there is no reservation record! (Pause) Listen, there's no other way, he'll understand. But the room here cost one hundred and eighty-six lei. It's a big bed, there is no other room. (Pause) Who kept you from booking? You are so annoying! (Pause) Listen, go to the girls and borrow another two hundred lei. (Pause) Find your own way, you're not a child anymore. (Pause) You can do it. (Pause) Shall I leave the keys at the front desk? (Pause) How can I recognize this guy? (Pause) What about him? Can he recognize me? (Pause) Gabita, are you crazy? You knew it was me, why did you tell him what you looked like? You are such a talent! Well, I'll figure out what to do...don't forget to bring your ID. (Pause) See you later, bye! (She hangs up.)

CROSSOVER, EXTERNAL,
DAY 18. Medium shot of an empty intersection. In the background, a taxi approaches from the street on the right and stops. Otilia got out of the car, crossed the street, looked around, then walked to the left, she passed a tanker truck, came to an ambulance station behind an iron fence, there were two parking lots in the background field and a modern building.

19. Opposite axis. Shot from the parking lot, medium shot. Otilia walked from the right to a man sitting in front of the ambulance station.
Otilia: Excuse me, is the 24th here?
man: what are you looking for?
Otilia: I have an appointment...and the address given to me is 24 Dechebar Street. (The man gets up and walks towards her. He takes his glasses from his pocket. Otilia hands him a note with the address on it. He looks at it) Did you see anyone waiting?
Man: No.
Otilia: Don't have a Mr. Beebe working here?
Man: Bibby what?
Otilia: All I know is "Mr. Beebe".
In the background, on the right, a small red car pulled up and parked on the street. Otilia glanced around to see if there was any man she was looking for.
Man: I don't know. Just ask the guy by the garage. I don't know Mr. Beebe... (Otilia turns away)

20. Half-length shot, Otilia leaving the post. Motion articulation shots. She looked at the road, then turned her back to the camera and walked towards a red car parked on the side of the road. Medium shot. She waited for a car to pass, then walked across the street. The windows of the red car rolled down. In the rear right, a small line of people lined up in front of a store.
Otilia: Excuse me, is that Mr. Beebe? (Otilia bends over to talk to him)
Mr. Beebe: Miss Gabe?
Otilia: Gabi can't come, she's not feeling well. I am Otilia.
Mr. Beebe: We agreed on the phone that she would come by herself.
Otilia: Because of this, I'm a little worried that we don't know each other. I asked the people at the ambulance station.
Mr. Beebe: Ask what?
Otilia: Ask them if they see anyone waiting. I'm five minutes late, and I'm afraid you'll be angry. Do I get in your car now?
Mr. Beebe: Where is she?
Otilia: She's waiting for us at the hotel.
Before he could say anything, Otilia went around to the other side of the car. Mr. Beebe was in the car helping her open the door. She got into the car and closed the door.
Mr. Beebe: Push harder, the door doesn't close properly.
She closed the door again. The car starts and draws from the left.

CAR, INT,
DAY 21. Frontal close-up of Otilia, who sits on the left of the painting and Mr. Beebe (Vlad Ivanov) on the right, both in the car. Mr. Beebe was driving.
Otilia: Do you work here?
Otilia turned to look at him. He continued driving, looking straight ahead, calm.
Mr. Beebe: Why are you asking this?
Otilia: I'll ask casually. (Otilia finds a pack of cigarettes in her bag. Mr. Beebe stops and turns to her) Can I smoke?
Mr. Beebe: About us, (he turns to look at Otilia. Otilia also turns to look at him. Mr. Beebe's tone is calm but firm) I have nothing to hide. (Otilia lowers her head again) I came in my car. You can write down the license plate number. Maybe it's too late, but I also have to tell you: (she looks up again) It's all based on mutual trust. I have to see the person before, that's called mutual trust.
Otilia didn't dare to face Bibby's eyes, she glanced at him a few times, then lowered her head.
Otilia: You can totally trust us. She is not feeling well and cannot come. We wanted Ramona to introduce us to you, but she's out. We can't get in touch with her.
Mr. Beebe: It doesn't matter, it's my principle. Anyway, it's late... Which hotel are you at?
Otilia: Targu Mures.
Mr. Beebe: When I was on the phone with Miss Gabe, I had only one request: a room in Uniria, or in Mordovia. In Uniria or in Mordovia...
Otilia: I know, but the rooms there are fully booked! I also struggled a lot in Targu Mures.
Mr. Beebe: Has your sister ever done this before?
Otilia: My sister? no.
Mr. Beebe: How old is she?
Otilia: 22 years old. 23 years old in March.
Mr. Beebe: She is very young.
Otilia: Yes.
Beebe: Do you live together?
Otilia: Yes.
Beebe: You're not local...
Otilia: No.
Beebe: Where are you from?
Otilia: Kemplonger.
Mr. Beebe: Kemplong? I have never been there.
Otilia: This is not a loss.
Mr. Beebe: Are you renting?
Otilia: No, dormitory.
Bibby: How's the dorm?
Otilia: Oh, as we imagined: noisy, unable to study at ease.
Mr. Beebe: What do you study?
Otilia: Comprehensive technology.
Mr. Beebe: At least you don't have to go to the countryside.
Otilia: That's right.
Mr. Beebe: I have something ahead of me.
He restarted the car. The two stopped talking or looking at each other in the moving car.

Suburban Street, Exterior, Day
22. Medium Shot. The camera follows to the left of a postman riding a bicycle in a clearing. Panoramic left, flat shoulder shot. Some young people are playing football. Mr. Beebe's car passed between them, came to a stop, and stopped in the foreground facing the camera on the left. In the background, a man is flapping a blanket hanging from a horizontal metal bar.
Mr. Beebe: Wait here. (He gets out of the car and leaves Otilia in the car. The camera pans to the car for a side shot above her chest. Mr. Beebe appears on the right side of the frame, towards a man sitting on a bench downstairs in the foreground The old woman goes, it's his mother. He stops in front of her and says a few words coldly. During this time, Otilia rolls down the window and listens to their conversation) What are you doing outside ? How many times have I told you? What are you doing out there?
Mr. Beebe's mother: Mrs. Yanku said the store had sugar.
Mr. Beebe: Sugar? for what?
Mr. Beebe's mother: Not for me, dear...
Mr. Beebe: I don't care about your candy! As long as you don't go out, I'm going to be driven crazy by you! This is the third time you've shut yourself out this month!
Mr. Beebe's mother: There's a draft, shut the door...
Mr. Beebe: Go to its door! (hands her a key) Take it! You're not going to lose this one, are you?
Mr. Beebe's mother: Don't worry, son, I won't lose it.
Mr. Beebe: Of course! Then why are you still on the street? Want to catch a cold?
Mr. Beebe's mother: Mrs. Yanku was in line at the store...
Mr. Beebe: Why didn't she let you stay at her house? Is she afraid that you will steal her things?
Mr. Beebe's mother: Of course not, poor woman, because...
Mr. Beebe: I'll tell Mrs. Jancourt! Now what are you waiting for? go back!
Mr. Beebe's mother: But she gave me a place...
Mr. Beebe: I don't want to hear it anymore! Go back now!
Mr. Beebe's mother: I'll be back.
Mr. Beebe: No, right now! I want to watch you go back!
He gestured for her to go back quickly. She stood up, took a few steps, then looked back at him.
Mr. Beebe's mother: Are you coming back for dinner?
Mr. Beebe: Go back and stop talking nonsense!
She turned back and walked home. Mr. Beebe turned back to his car.
Mr. Beebe's mother: Viorel... (he turns to his mother again) Someone is calling you.
Mr. Beebe: Someone called? (He takes a few steps toward his mother, still angry) How many times have I told you not to answer the phone when I'm not here?
Mr. Beebe walked over to his mother, and they both walked to the left. Suddenly, the football the young man was playing flew towards the car outside the picture, and Otilia was startled and turned her eyes back.

Hotel Targu Mures, Interior, Day
23. Half-length shot of the hotel receptionist. He had a cup of coffee in his hand and a small wad of banknotes. He comes out of his room and walks towards the reception desk in the foreground, the camera turns to the left. He hands the banknotes in his hand to the hotel receptionist (similar to the one seen earlier) to the left of the foreground. In the background, Otilia and Mr. Beebe cross the hall.
Male receptionist (right): Hello, which room are you going to?
Otilia (Otilia and Mr. Beebe stop and look at him): Room 206, booked.
Male receptionist: Didn't anyone tell you to leave the keys when you left?
Otilia: Someone is in the room.
Male receptionist (goes to the right back shot for confirmation): What is the room number?
Otilia (towards the counter and looks at Mr. Beebe): 206.
Male receptionist (returns with ID): Draguts Gabriela?
Otilia: She's in the room, and the second ID is mine.
He put the certificate on the table and drew again from the right.
Female receptionist (pictured left, counting the money): What about this gentleman?
Otilia: He's a visitor.
Female receptionist: There are guests to be notified in advance. Just come in like this!
Otilia: Isn't that only after 10 o'clock at night? Your colleague told me so.
Receptionist (sigh): You got it wrong. If anyone stays after 10pm, he pays extra for a bed and all guests are notified. (The phone rings, she picks up the receiver and speaks to Mr. Beebe) Your ID card...
Otilia (pointing to her own ID): Can I take it?
Otilia picked up the ID card placed on the table. Mr. Beebe came over, handed over his ID card, and glared at Otilia at the same time. The female receptionist brought the ID card.
Female receptionist: Pick it up when you come down.

Upstairs Lobby, Interior View, Day
24. Medium Shot, a guest is in the hotel corridor. Panorama moved to the left, followed him and diverted to the direction of the elevator on the left. Otilia and Mr. Beebe came over. Otilia motioned him to go to the room on the left. There is a circle of sofas in the middle hall, surrounding a coffee table.
Otilia: 206. (They walk towards a door. Otilia knocks on the door. Mr. Beebe, with his bag on his back, looks around and tries to open the door. No one answers) Gabita?
Gabita (voice-over): Is that you?
Otilia: It's me. I am with Mr. Beebe.
Gabita (V.O.): Wait... (door opens)

Room 206, Interior, Day
25. Close-up of the left side of the Tower of Gabit. She stepped back and let Mr. Beebe and Otilia in.
Gabita: Hello. (Introducing himself) Gabriela.
Mr. Beebe (outside left): Hello.
Gabita: Please come in. (She avoids, and Mr. Beebe walks in past the foreground. She follows a few steps, then turns suddenly to look at Otilia, who is closing the door. She whispers something. Otilia walks towards her. Two girls face to face) I forgot to bring the tarpaulin.
Otilia: Did you get the money?
Gabita: Where's the time? ! (Gabita walks towards Mr. Beebe. At this moment, Otilia takes off her scarf and bag, and takes off her coat. She hangs her clothes on the hanger. Gabita says off-screen) Do you want Nescafe coffee? ?
Mr. Beebe (V.O.): No, thank you.
Gabita (voice-over): Want a cake?
Mr. Beebe (V.O.): No.
Gabita (off-screen): Please feel free. (Otilia's dress falls on the floor. She picks it up and hangs it up again) Please take a seat.

26. Mid shot of Gabita, she is sitting on the bed on the right, Mr. Beebe is sitting on the chair opposite her on the left of the painting, Otilia crosses the frame to the other chair opposite Gabita, sits Down. Behind Otilia is a TV and a closed window.
Gabita: Nice to find you. We're also worried about...
Mr. Beebe (always calm during the conversation): Listen to me, we don't have a good head start, boy. (Otilia takes a cigarette case from her bag and puts it on the table beside her. Mr. Beebe asks Gabita, who looks restless, to focus on himself.) I told you two things on the phone : 1. Go to Hotel Uniria or Mordovar; 2. Come and see me in person. Do you think I'm talking casually?
Gabita: No, I understand, but... we can't get a room there.
Mr. Beebe: Your sister already told me so. (Otilia, uneasy, straightens up in her chair. Her bag is on her lap) If so, we'll wait. Now my ID card is withheld at the front desk... (Gabita looks at Otilia, embarrassed)
Gabita: I'm sorry.
Mr. Beebe: Your apologies are useless, my ID is still held at the front desk.
Gabita: I feel like I can't push back any further. I've been waiting a long time...
Mr. Beebe: How many months have you been?
Gabita: The third month.
Mr. Beebe: You said two months on the phone.
Gabita: Yes, when we were talking... it's been three months now.
Mr. Beebe: What blood type?
Gabita: Type O.
Mr. Beebe: No hypotension, right?
Gabita: I don't know... no.
Mr. Beebe: Any allergies?
Gabita: No, except for cat hair. That would give me spots on my neck.
Otilia (interrupting Gabita anxiously) Did you anesthetize her? I want to ask because I don't know how to do this. A friend of mine did... (she hesitated, then looked at Gabita) to abort the pregnancy and told me she was under general anesthesia.
Mr. Beebe: Have you ever had an abortion? (Otilia is speechless) Now let me explain. I don't do hysterectomy, understand? We didn't talk about it, it's unnecessary. If you agree, I'll put a probe in and cause a spontaneous miscarriage, understand? Of course, it will hurt and it will bleed. But you don't need anesthesia. It's not that painful yet. Again, there is no equipment here. Anesthesia is not available anywhere. Best of all, you can't move as long as the probe is out! It cannot be moved. I won't put it in again. Understand? (Gabita bows her head in fear) What are you hesitating about? You sounded firm on the phone.
Gabita: I'm firm, but... (her voice is weak)
Mr. Beebe: But what? ...Miss, this is not a game. We all risk going to jail. And I took a bigger risk. Let's not play around with this, okay? Once you start, stick to it until the end. If all goes well, as soon as the probe is inserted, you will bleed and the fetus will be expelled. After that, you have to be extra careful, you will need help. If you get this room dirty, we'll all be in trouble. You have to use tarpaulin.
Gabita: I left it in the dorm.
Mr. Beebe: You forgot it! ...then use a plastic bag, or something. Again, very important: don't let anyone in, not anyone! The door has to be locked all the time.
Otilia (interrupting): How long will this take? From putting the probe to... We only booked three days.
Mr. Beebe: It depends. Maybe two hours, maybe two or three days...depending on her physique.
Gabita: What if I want to go to the toilet?
Mr. Beebe: Your sister will help you. You can't move, not for any reason. If the probe falls out, things are screwed up! I won't do it again. That's why you need help. If you feel contractions and you're bleeding, it's fine. But you mustn't move until then... Also, watch out for infection! I sanitize when I put the probe, I have alcohol and some other stuff. But after that, there is still a risk of infection. You know that bleeding is easy to get infected. I leave you ampicillin just in case. Have you used it yourself?
Gabita: I have taken it.
Otilia: But it's dangerous...I mean, is it possible...she can't get it out?
Mr. Beebe: Anything can happen, but it's unavoidable. (He makes a helpless gesture)
Otilia: I'm sorry, but I think we should prepare for the worst. What should I do if something unfortunate happens and she faints or has a fever, or she loses a lot of blood? Do I call an ambulance? Or notify you?
Mr. Beebe: If you call an ambulance, we'll all be in jail with one foot. So can't do that. If you call, don't deny you're pregnant. They'll know right away. Just say...I don't know...something came out...no one will believe you, but they won't say anything. Of course it's better to avoid this...how is your period in general? much?
Gabita: Exactly...
Mr. Beebe: Lie down and I'll palpate you. (Mr. Beebe gets up, Gabita also rises, she goes to the head of the bed to the right outside the picture. Mr. Beebe takes off his coat and throws it on the chair) Pull the zipper down. (He makes a gesture to Gabita, then walks towards her. Otilia puts her bag on the table and stands.) You sit.
Otilia went back to the chair and sat and waited. On the right side is the bed and Gabita's feet.

27. Opposite axis. Half-length shot of Gabita, who is lying on the bed facing the camera on her right side, with Mr. Beebe sitting, leaning over her belly. She pulled the skirt down and pulled up the jumper, and Bibby tapped her belly.
Mr. Beebe: How many months have you had?
Gabita: Three months.
He stopped beating, put his hands on his knees, and looked at her seriously.
Mr. Beebe: Think about it. When was your last period?
Gabita: December. I should have my period on the 20th.
Mr. Beebe: But it didn't come.
He straightened up, then put his arms on his knees.
Gabita: Yes.
Mr. Beebe: Well, the last time is November.
Gabita: It seems so.
Mr. Beebe: Let's count: November, December, January, February, how many in total?
Gabita: But I didn't come until December.
Mr. Beebe: Are we counting from when you didn't have your period?
Gabita: Maybe a little over three months.
Mr. Beebe: There is no "maybe". You are over three months. I ask you to think carefully. How many months have you been? The three-month and four-month programs are different.
Gabita: I'm probably in my fourth month.
Mr. Beebe: Fourth month? Or the fifth month? Miss, you have to be careful.
Gabita: Five months, impossible. It's possible at four months...my periods are very irregular.
Mr. Beebe: You're tangled up with the month! Four months, five months... From the fourth month, it's a different story entirely. It's no longer a miscarriage, it's a murder. We're going to jail for five to six years! do you know? (She shakes her head) You don't care...
Gabita: My periods are irregular. Sometimes only once every two and a half months. So I didn't pay attention.
Mr. Beebe: Miss, I beg you! ...
Gabita: You don't believe me.
Mr. Beebe: I don't believe you. If your periods are so irregular, you should see a doctor! (He stands, flat-shouldered camera pan to the right. Otilia's knee above camera, she is still sitting in a chair. Mr. Beebe is standing with his back to the camera. He pushes away the cake plate on the table and takes it from under the table Take out the suitcase and put it on the table) You see, people are like that. They waited, waited, and came crying. Why should someone else be responsible for you? Am I the one who indulges? (He opens the suitcase, takes out a potion, picks up a cup on the table, and walks out of the drawing to the bathroom. Otilia puts the cake plate in her hand on the shelf to her right. She looks at the left side shot Gabita in the middle, then looks at Mr. Beebe's suitcase and looks away again. Mr. Beebe grabs his leather jacket and puts it on the suitcase, then sits on the chair on the left and says to Gabita) I don't know, miss. It's too dangerous. Do you think you can find someone to do this at four or five months?
Gabita (off-screen): Please...
Mr. Beebe: Please... You know everything in this world has a price.
Gabita (V.O.): We'll pay...
Mr. Beebe: Is it? how much money you have?
Otilia cleared her throat, put her arms on the table, and looked at Mr. Beebe. Mr. Beebe turned his eyes from Gabita to her.
Otilia: Let me explain to you... We had to book the room for three days or we wouldn't be able to book a day.
Mr. Beebe: So what happened?
Otilia: We had enough for three thousand lei. But after paying the rent, we now only have 2,850 lei left. May I?
Mr. Beebe (he looks at Gabita again) Miss, did I tell you the money? Did I tell you about money on the phone?
Before Gabita could answer, Otilia interrupted him again. Mr. Beebe turned to look at her again.
Otilia: That's right, you didn't say anything. So we asked Ramona. We consulted and knew that it would take up to three thousand.
Mr. Beebe: Ramona told you three thousand?
Otilia: She thinks it should be that number.
Mr. Beebe: Ramona should do it, since she knows the market so well. (He turns to Gabita again) What did we say on the phone, miss? I said I understand you and will help you. Yes or no? Did I mention money?
Gabita (voice-over): You said we understood each other.
Mr. Beebe: Exactly! (He explains to the two girls calmly, looking at this and that as he speaks) That's why I wanted to meet you in person, so that we could understand each other. I don't judge what you have done. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. I didn't ask your name, who your father is, it has nothing to do with me. I came in my own car and my ID was at the front desk. If the police came, they would arrest me first. I venture with my own freedom. I have a family and have children. I am good to you. I'm here to help you. You should be nice to me too. This is natural.
Otilia: Wait, I don't understand...
Mr. Beebe: I can wait. But what about you, I can't see it. Where do you not understand? I've made it very clear that I don't like repetition. What are you thinking? I risk ten years in prison for three thousand lei? do you think so? What do you take me for? a beggar? Did you see me begging? ...we are now...

28. Coaxial with lens 27.
Full body side shot of Gabita as she sits on the bed. She looks at Mr. Beebe off the picture to the right.
Mr. Beebe (V.O.): I'll go to the bathroom for you to consider. If you agree, you tell me who comes first. If I don't agree, I'll leave. It's you who need help, not me.
Outside the picture, the man stood up and walked into the bathroom, closing the door.
Gabita (leaning forward): I'm sorry. I don't believe this is true.
She raised her head and looked at Otilia on the right outside the picture.
Otilia (voice-over): Why do you say you're the second month?
Gabita (looking at Otilia): Ramona asked me to say this, so that he could accept it.
Otilia (voice-over): Because he took it on the phone? Why are you waiting so long?
Gabita (with tears in her eyes, very disturbed): Now, what to do? You have already paid the rent.
Otilia (voice-over): Room? ! You bastard, Gabita, you can be unbearable sometimes! I told you to be careful, but you always think you're right!
Gabita: What do I do now? You calm down. You are under no obligation. It's one thing to be here, that's another thing... (Looking to the bathroom. She stands up and walks towards Otilia, reaching out to her. Camera follows) Give me the money.
Otilia turned to take the bag. She opened the bag and handed it to Gabita. Gabita went back and sat on the bed. The camera still stays on Otilia's side. Back left, the bathroom door opens and Mr. Beebe comes out. He came over and sat down on the chair on the other side of the table again, facing Otilia. The camera pans slightly to the left.
Otilia: How much, four thousand, is that enough? (Mr. Beebe turns to look at Otilia) Five thousand? How many?
Mr. Beebe: Do you have that money? (Otilia lowers her head) So what are you talking about?
Otilia: We can borrow.
Mr. Beebe: Borrow? You have been complaining for the hotel room money, and now you are talking about this? How do you get money?
He looked at Gabita on the bed and at Otilia on the left.
Otilia: We'll borrow it.
Mr. Beebe (looking at her): Why?
Otilia (a bit cold): That's my business.
Mr. Beebe: Are you raising your voice?
Otilia: No, I'm explaining to you...
Mr. Beebe: How long will it take to raise the money?
Otilia (eyes down): Next Saturday at the latest.
Mr. Beebe: All the money next Saturday?
Otilia (turning to him): Yes.
Mr. Beebe: If you say so... (He curls his lips mockingly, pretending to be surprised. Otilia looks at Gabita, and so does Mr. Beebe. Pan to the left, Gabita sitting On the bed on the left, Mr. Beebe is facing her on the right) Call me when you have the money, and we'll make an appointment.
He reached for the coat that was lying behind him. Gabita stood up a little and motioned for him to wait.
Gabita: Wait, don't go. Please, can we do it today...the rent is all paid.
Mr. Beebe: What does "we" mean? did you do it?
Gabita (looking down, yielding): No, sorry. I meant to say "you".
Mr. Beebe: So, what do we do?
Gabita stood up, took a stack of bills from her skirt, and placed it on the table beside Mr. Beebe. She stood facing Mr. Beebe. The camera pans to the right.
Gabita: You take 2,800 lei first. We only have these today. We promise to pay another 2,000 by Tuesday. do you think it's okay? (Mr. Beebe bows his head as if thinking) Trust us...
Mr. Beebe (interrupting): How? Are we familiar? (He looks up at her) I don't know anything about you. (He points to the door) Tomorrow, you can disappear from the world! And I lost my money!
Gabita: We won't! Do you want my ID card?
Mr. Beebe: What am I going to do with it? Street search?
The camera pans to the right to shoot Otilia, with Gabita out of the picture.
Otilia: We go to school here, where can we go? (Mr. Beebe turns to look at her) I'll call home and have money on Monday...
Mr. Beebe: Are you kidding me? I'm not kidding you.
Otilia: I'm not kidding, it's just...
Mr. Beebe (interrupting): Just what? I don't want to repeat it, tell you.
Otilia (frightened, raises her volume): If we have the money, we'll give it to you! But we don't! I promise you Saturday...
Mr. Beebe (snarls at her and bangs his fist on the table): You stinky bitch! (He stands up excitedly, roaring, the camera zooms to a very close-up) Are you fooling me like a child? ! (Pushes into Mr. Beebe's face in front of the camera) I can do it without a hitch like you two, you know? The more cunning have to listen to me, but the two of you don't take me seriously? (He glances at Gabita, off the picture on the left) You think it's two wise men against a fool? go to hell.
He picked up his coat and suitcase on the table and walked towards the door. Follow the camera. Gabita rushed to stop him.
Gabita: Wait! Help me, please! (She stops him and is about to cry. She stands in the doorway with her back to the camera facing Mr. Beebe, and the camera follows with her shoulders flat) That's my problem. It has nothing to do with her. I beg you to help me... just do as you say.
Mr. Beebe: Do as I say?
Gabita (shaking forehead): Yes. Those who make mistakes are punished. I'm the one who does stupid things. She is innocent.
Mr. Beebe: This situation is not caused by me.
Gabita: I know. But she is not my sister. Sorry for lying to you. We are roommates living in a dorm.
Mr. Beebe looked back at Otilia, then back at Gabita.
Mr. Beebe: Did I ask you that, did I ask?
Gabita: I can do it. My friend has no obligation to me. I hope you...
Mr. Beebe: Don't wish me anything! I offer you the terms of my help. If you don't want to understand, then forget it. (Off-screen, Otilia responds to what Mr. Beebe said, but he doesn't understand. Gabita and Mr. Beebe turn to look at her) What did she say? I didn't hear it.
Gabita: She's menstruating.
Mr. Beebe turned to Gabita and gestured to go.
Mr. Beebe: That's a bargain!
Mr. Beebe went to the door. Follow the camera. Gabita came close behind, stopping him, leaning against the door to keep him from opening it.
Gabita: I beg you! Have mercy! (she tries to block the door)
Otilia (off screen): All right! Put the probe on her, then...
Mr. Beebe turned to Otilia, and he left the door and walked toward her from the foyer. Close-up of his profile.
Mr. Beebe: So what? Do you take me for a fool?

Mr. Beebe turned his head to look in the direction Gabita rushed out in the reverse shot.
