I started watching Bergman's movies when I was a freshman. After three years, I have watched about 10 movies, including "Wild Strawberry", "The Seventh Seal", "Fanny and Alexander", "Winter Light", "Silence", "Still in the Mirror" (the latter three are called "Silence Trilogy") and so on.
It is undeniable that most of Bergman's films are slow-paced and dull, and watching his films requires patience. But I haven't stopped watching any of Bergman's films, perhaps because of the amazing patience I developed while reading philosophy books as a kid. However, I like most of Bergman's movies, and the ones listed above are all my favorites.
There is a lot to say about Bergman's films, and a lot to guess. But I think that analysis, especially in words, is often superfluous. Whether the analysis is good or bad, it may affect the perception of others, it is better to remain silent. Watching a movie is a kind of communication in itself, and it is a more direct communication. Instead of analyzing it, watch the movie again.
Of course, I am not against analysis, but I am willing to read more and analyze less. Also, if my writing is for others to read, I think it is unlikely that anyone will enjoy reading my long-winded analysis; and if my writing is for the record and for myself, I don't have to write too much. , let them metabolize in my brain and fend for themselves. Of course, you can also doubt my analytical ability. It doesn't matter.
There was a time when Bergman's films came out very frequently. Due to the limited funds, I didn't accept many of them. Now I want to buy them, but most of them can't be found. However, my Bergman "owing to watch list" is quite long, take it slow!
