I went to Thailand when I was in junior high school, and the impression was that it was hot. There was also a good-looking female tour guide, a male tour guide who was good at cheating money, and some capitalist service places that I could not enter at the age at that time. As far as the local customs of this country are concerned, the feeling at that time was not much different from that of the general tourist towns in China, and the capital Bangkok seemed to be just a small place where you could buy pirated discs on the street. So watching "Love of Siam", in addition to the characters speaking Thai, the screen of the mobile phone displays Thai, and there are all the elements that should be there. This movie is no different from the common youth gay movies.
I secretly thought that youth films only needed to show a few unfamiliar and childish faces, and when I told the story of love, hate and tears in the last paragraph, audiences under 30 would always try their best to find some memories, and if they were serious, they would cry. for a while. "Love of Siam" fits all of these, but it exceeds a little. The 154-minute film length makes the structure of the film a little bloated, but the brilliant director has added a few clues in addition to the unethical love. The movie came alive.
The film made me have the illusion that I was watching a Taiwanese movie many times. With its fresh style and bright tones, I couldn't tell the difference between Thai and Hokkien. I was lost in the bright high school years created by the director. This may be the only movie that makes me think that it's not a big deal for a boy to fall in love with a boy. The hormonal element involved is minimized, and the director seems to be reluctant to put the kind of feelings that are disgusted by the world's eyes in the open. To tell the story on the stage, let them leave imprints in their minds like a breeze, and then the play ends.
As far as I know, Thai culture has always tried to resolve all the disharmony that occurs in this country with the spirit of lack of compassion and compassion in Buddhism. Even the god-defying products such as human beings and demons are only lightly called second nature, and " The contemptuous term like "demon" is unheard of in Thailand. Then it is not difficult to understand the generation, spread and final demise of same-sex love in "Love of Siam". Glancing at the occasional squinting eyes of children of the same age as the protagonists, the position given by the director is so tolerant.
It is gratifying that the director is not satisfied with telling the growth of a pair of "childhood sweethearts" boys, Mu's grandmother, Dong's sister, these clues are placed one by one in the process of the two boys becoming responsible men. Like a beacon, illuminating the way forward. And the design of the Christmas doll without the nose also contains a connotation that the absence of the father's upbringing led to the final sexual orientation deviation. When Dong's girlfriend begged the shop owner to sell Dong's nose, the boys' past The puzzle is finally complete. At a very young age, they know how to let go of their incestuous feelings and complete their mission as men. The loneliness that is wrong will also ripple in the growth rings and be treasured as memories.
I have never seen a Thai movie before, and I have never been interested in a Thai drama with a good reputation. I saw "Love of Siam" in Doulie's five-star recommendation, but I thought it was to satisfy audiences outside of Thailand who have fantasies about this mysterious country. Catering, but not actually, Siamese also have youth that can be praised with singing, just like the wild lily in the corner of the lonely valley also has spring.
