It's another adaptation of Dennis Lehane's original book. You can see the similar style of many screenwriters. The themes of violence, God, and the suffering of the good are under-exposed. But still retains the gloomy tone. If you look at it practically, you can know the whole story in the first fifteen minutes. But the interest of spreading is not in the myth of reasoning.
