This is the best song and dance film I have watched for a long, long time. It is not only a very avant-garde performance of Berlin that opened in the 2nd and 30s and gay life there, it also depicts the time through clever music, song and dance. The historical picture (the story is separated from the song and dance, not the kind of "sing as you talk" song and dance film), the first time I was in the theater, I really wanted to keep singing, don’t stop, keep singing! love it!

I came in without reading the introduction and I was completely unprepared to watch a romantic film. The level of the director is quite first-class, especially when dealing with literary dramas. The body language at times, the hesitant words when sad, the whole film is fascinating, but it's just not so singing and dancing.

Sally: The only thing you can do with virgins like that is pounce!
-
Sally: Bri, listen... we're practically living together, so if you only like boys I wouldn't dream of pestering you.
[pause]
Sally: Well, do you sleep with girls or don't you?
Brian: Sally! You don't ask questions like that!
Sally: I do.
