In 2007, director Brit Morgan was encouraged by Kurt Cobain's widow, Courteney Love, to prepare "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck", and Cobain's daughter Francis Bein Cobain was the producer of the film People, and because of this, this documentary has a wealth of information to support. After Brit Morgan officially entered the production stage, he discovered that there were too few new things about Kurt Cobain not being unearthed. However, when he obtained permission to enter the treasures of the Cobain family, he discovered more than 200 hours of audio tapes and video materials that had never been released, as well as a large number of amazing works of art created by Cobain, including oil paintings, sculptures and never exposed to the outside world. The disclosed Cobain family videotapes and more than 4000 pages of textual works help to express the artist's face that has never been shown before. So when Brit Morgan edited and organized these materials, he focused more on showing the audience the appearance of the magical rock star, as an art creator and a father and husband, Kurt Cobain. Brit Morgan also specially invited people to make animations to show Cobain's sensitive heart, supplementing all the content beyond the visible materials
