"The Traitor" tells the story of a policeman who entered the Mafia as an undercover agent, but the plot did not fall into the stereotypes of black and white struggles. The themes of the film are friendship, loyalty and betrayal. The focus is not on how thrilling the police undercover process is and how good and evil are incompatible, but more on portraying the contradictions and inner conflicts between these two types of extreme figures. Through the perspective of the protagonist Dawney, the director puts a lot of space into the depiction of the Mafia. The traditional righteous way, the FBI, is completely in a supporting position in the film.
In the film, Al Pacino uses rich facial expressions, nearly chattering dialogue, and superb and old acting skills to interpret a tragic character, and also completes the protagonist of the gangster movie from an impossible hero to a downright gangster. Change. Many classic scenes are very touching.
Although Al Pacino was very brilliance and lethal in the film, Johnny Depp was still a junior at the time, but his performance was not eclipsed. Depp's natural sense of melancholy is very suitable for the role of "Infernal Affairs".
The film begins with Depp’s righteous and fearless eyes, and ends with his bewildered and lost eyes. In his eyes, the audience reads an extremely contradictory inner world.
