"Duel In The Sun" was directed by Kim Vidor, who had filmed " The Crowd " , which is also translated as "Blood in the Sun" and is adapted from the original novel by best-selling author Niven Busch. This film describes the story of a pair of brothers killing each other, with twists and turns in the plot, without much modification in the technique, just a general narrative style, but the storyline makes people feel a little incredible. Despite Kim Victor's talent, the film failed to touch the hearts of the audience with its poignant story. Instead, it was picked out by the audience in various aspects such as photography, performance, dialogue, and costumes. The film is famous because of the feminist film theorist and director Laura Mulvey , who used the film as an example to reiterate her point when her essay "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema" was criticized.
