At the end of the 20th century, Mike Judge had already written almost a 40-page script of "Extract" and constructed a structure outline with a juice factory as the background of the story, but then Georgie decided to put the script for the time being and create it. Georgie returned to his home in Austin, the capital of Texas, and found that he often passed by a juice extraction factory called Adams, and became interested in it. When filming "Extract", the crew found a real oil mill to shoot. After arriving at the oil mill, the film crew found that many interesting things can happen in the oil mill according to local conditions, so Mike Judge lived in the oil mill during that time, looking for inspiration.
