Holding the Man in the title of the film is actually a football term, which means pulling a person to block a foul.
Based on a true story, the film is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by Australian author, actor and activist Timothy Conigrave. Timothy died on the tenth day of writing the book at the age of 34.
"Holding The Man" was published in 1995 and won the UN Human Rights Award that year. In 2003 the book was voted one of Australia's top 100 favorite books. It was adapted into a stage play in 2006 and was very popular.
At the end of the film, Tim says "Ci vedremo lassù, angelo" in Italian, which translates to "I'll see you there again, my angel".
The film's accolades include the Australian Film Critics Association Award for Best Actor (Ryan Cole) and second place at the Melbourne International Film Festival Feature Film Audience Choice Award, with numerous nominations.
Teenager Tim calls John on the same phone used by the original Timothy Conigrave, from Conigrave's childhood bedroom, provided to the crew by his sister Anna Davison.

The book's popularity among white people in Melbourne and Sydney is astonishing. This book has also brought a lot of encouragement and support to friends who already have HIV. No matter how good or bad the movie is, it brings a vivid image to everyone. If you go back to the book later, you can have a deeper understanding and imagination.
