Billnine when World War II broke out. He lives in a house on the outskirts of London with his parents, sister and sister. The father soon enlisted, and before he left, he taught his son the curveball of "cheating" opponents in cricket. The frequent air raids rattled life, and the children were excited by the sights. People have gradually adapted to this kind of life. My sister falls in love with Bruce, a Canadian soldier. Father also came home to visit them occasionally. Bruce had to leave because of the switch, and also wrote to break up with his sister. The mother and the divorced old lover Mark also still have some feelings. Their family's house burned down unexpectedly and moved to their grandfather's house. My sister is pregnant, but one day while rowing, she sees Bruce who deserted to see him. They can finally take a picture together as a family. Bruce was taken away by the troops, and his sister gave birth to a child. After the summer vacation, Bill had to go to school, but he was pleasantly surprised to find that the school building was blown up and he could skip classes again.

Mother seems to be emily watson, the little daughter wearing a small hat and the curse of her grandfather exploded. In the impression that the war can be photographed cutely, in addition to the spring cuckoo, it is the old British lady drinking tea with Mussolini

The magical war movie does not focus on war, but looks for the fun of war life through the eyes of a child. The protagonist is too smart, and the grandfather is so cute

Hope and Glory quotes

  • Grace Rowan: Don't kill love. You'll regret it for the rest of your life.

  • Grace Rowan: Mac, did you ever find out who Molly went off with.

Mac: Ran off with a Polish pilot. Sounds like one of those bad jokes on the wireless!

Grace Rowan: You miss her. And I know I do.

Mac: She said, "I know you love me, babe. But you never love me enough."

Grace Rowan: Not loving enough. What a terrible thing to do to someone. I suppose I did it to Clive. I, always held something back.

Mac: All better left unsaid, Grace.

Grace Rowan: You were never apart, you and Clive. He kept asking and asking. I kept waiting and waiting for you to say something. But you never did.

Mac: Clive had a job. I didn't. I couldn't. You did the decent thing, Grace.

Grace Rowan: This war, has put an end to decent things.

Mac: We can't change what's past. Not even the war can do that.

Grace Rowan: Oh we did the proper thing. But we lost love. And that's sad, Mac.
