Interstellar Science Guide

Kip S. Thorne served as the scientific consultant for the film, ensuring that wormholes and relativity are as accurate as possible. They discussed how to describe wormholes and black holes, and then calculated the equation that allows light to pass through the wormhole or surround the black hole. Therefore, the images that the audience sees are based on Einstein's equations of relativity.
When designing wormholes and giant rotating black holes, Thorne worked with the visual effects director and thirty computer stunts. Thorne provided theoretical equations to the special effects personnel, who wrote new computer special effects software according to the equations to create accurate gravity simulations.
Director Christopher Nolan initially worried that a scientifically accurate black hole might not be understandable to the audience, and might need to change the appearance unreasonably, but in the end he thought that as long as he can maintain a consistent shooting angle, this can make the effect possible. Be understood by the audience. Because of the huge size of the black hole and the relatively small mass of the black hole, human beings can enter the event horizon without becoming a phenomenon. Wormholes are not shown as two-dimensional caves in the film, but as spheres in three-dimensional space.
In the early productions, Thorne set the principle: the existing laws of physics cannot be violated, and all imaginations must be based on science rather than just the imagination of the screenwriter. Christopher accepted this principle without affecting film production. Thorne once spent two weeks lobbying Christopher to give up an idea about the character flying beyond the speed of light. He also said that an ice planet visited by the character in the film is the maximum artistic freedom he can allow.

The hard science fiction of the near future, which is based on the Beijingization of the earth (huh?), has a novel understanding of wormholes, gravity and time dimensions, and the vast universe portrayed is dazzling. It's a pity that Nolan's ambitions are too big (really bigger than bigger!), and he raised his humanity so high, in the end he will become a space god...

    1. Sensational is greater than science fiction 2. The dialogue is long and verbose 3. The plot reversal is not new 4. Occasionally there are whimsical ideas but are instantly pulled away by the expressions of the characters 5. What I want to see is the grandeur of the universe, the fate of mankind, and the light of the world And the darkness, the splendor and fantasy of the multidimensional world, who depends on your father and daughter, mother-in-law.

Interstellar quotes

  • [after the explosion]

Cooper: What's your trust setting, TARS?

    TARS: Lower than yours, apparently

  • CASE: Endurance rotation is 67, 68 RPM.

Cooper: CASE, get ready to match our spin with the retro thrusters.

    CASE: It's not possible.

    Cooper: No. It's necessary.
